How to Link your myQ account to Google Assistant

- You’ll be offered a choice between ‘Google Assistant’ and your payment method/billing cycle. (1)

- Click Partners in the myQ® App menu and then Google Assistant.
- Locate Google Assistant in Account Linking to launch the Google Assistant app.
How Can I Set Up MyQ to Work with Google Assistant?
The MyQ Garage Door opener may be set up to work with the Google Assistant in two ways.
- Use the MyQ Service to connect (Free)
- Use IFTTT to connect (Preferred)
Option 1 – Subscription Service for MyQ Google Assistant
- Go to https://www.myq.com/google-assistant.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select “Activate Subscription.”
- Sign in to your account and finish the transaction.
Note: Remember to activate MyQ for Google Assistant. Customers who experience problems after installation usually forget to do this and then run into many other difficulties down the line.
Option 2 – IFTTT can be used to connect Google Assistant to MyQ
To use MyQ with Google Assistant, IFTTT integration is a great option it stands for if this then that and is a technology system for easily linking different software and devices through its commands. The IFTTT method is sometimes more convenient than the MyQ subscription method. (2)
You should be aware that this method doesn’t allow you to control the status of your garage door.

Sign in to IFTTT and make a new applet.
- In the upper right corner, click “Explore.”
- Next to Make Your Own From Scratch, click “Create.”
- For the IF Trigger, click the + Sign.

- At the voice command, type “Close Garage” or your selected expression.

- Look for MyQ.

- Create your IFTTT MyQ Applet and give it a name.
All you have to say is “OK Google, close the garage” and the IFTTT applet will automatically be triggered. This is much more convenient than needing to say “Ask MyQ” before each command.

There’s no need to invest in a new smart garage door opener this year. There are plenty of easy conversion solutions currently on the market that will allow you to take advantage of the latest features without breaking the bank.
Tailwind iQ3
The Tailwind iQ3 is reliable due to its wired configuration, and auto-open and close functions were executed promptly during our testing.
The iQ3 can control up to three garage doors, but it’s incompatible with HomeKit, adding wiring is a pain, and Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa support are also available.
Overall, if you don’t need HomeKit support, this garage door opener is a good option for someone looking for something basic and easy to program.
